Walking out the Evolutionary Timeline

Dr. Johnson's Human Fossil Ancestry class used Truman’s sidewalks to map out a timeline of hominid evolution. The class was assigned to convert the last 7,000,000 years of hominid evolution into a measure of the number of steps where 1 step = 2000 years. [7MY = 3500 steps]. A few volunteers marched down the sidewalk counting until they reached the next wave of hominid evolution, while other students marked their progress with sidewalk chalk.
