On Monday, November 9, TIA: Truman in Africa will be hosting a screening of an Invisible Children documentary in the SUB Georgian room. We would love for members of your organization to attend! The documentary, “Rescue and Recovery,” will outline the conflict in northern Uganda where children are being kidnapped from their homes and forced to become child soldiers. Invisible Children is a well-known non-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness of the conflict in Uganda. We are lucky to have such a great organization visiting our campus.
Another way that you can make a huge difference is by contributing with TIA to Invisible Children’s Schools for Schools program. The Schools for Schools program works to rebuild war-torn schools in Northern Uganda. Truman is part of a cluster of universities working through the Schools for Schools program to support Gulu Senior Secondary School in Uganda. We are asking all the organizations on campus to simply have each of their members donate 50 cents to this cause. With even this small contribution from each of your members, we could make a huge impact in the lives of students in war-torn Africa.
